At Royal LePage, we believe that a house is only truly a home if the people living inside it feel safe. That belief is at the heart of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, which exists to support women and children fleeing domestic violence as they rebuild their lives after abuse.

Since its inception, Royal LePage professionals across Canada have dedicated their time, compassion, and charitable efforts toward women’s shelters, transition houses, and prevention programs that work to stop domestic violence before it starts. By choosing to address a complex issue that is often hidden behind closed doors, Royal LePage agents, brokers, and staff are committed to making a meaningful difference for families facing violence—today and for generations to come.

The Shelter Foundation has grown to become the largest public foundation in Canada dedicated exclusively to this cause, raising more than $41 million to date. Royal LePage is also the only Canadian real estate company with its own branded charity, and importantly, Royal LePage covers all administrative costs of the foundation. This means 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to the cause, supporting over 200 women’s shelters and national partners and helping more than 50,000 women and children each year.

As our collective understanding of domestic violence has evolved, we now recognize that abuse doesn’t always leave visible marks. Emotional, psychological, and financial abuse can be just as harmful. Children are deeply affected by violence in the home, even when it happens out of sight, with long-lasting impacts on their health and development.

A safe bed in a shelter is only the first step. Long-term supports such as counselling, legal services, job training, financial literacy, and access to safe transitional housing are essential for women to truly heal and thrive.

The Shelter Foundation’s work is powered by the generosity of Royal LePage professionals who donate a portion of their commission from every transaction, along with community fundraising initiatives like Challenge for Shelter events, auctions, and Shelter Blooms. Our office, and specifically our team, proudly donates a portion of every real estate transaction to the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.
